Reisebericht – Der Westen der USA: 30.05.2007 – Weiße Tiger und Neonshows in Vegas
Heute war also der letzte Tag in Vegas. Und es gab noch einiges zu sehen. Leider kam ich nicht so früh aus dem Bett, wie gewollt, so dass ich erst gegen 10 Uhr aus dem Hotel war und mit dem Bus erstmal zum Südende des Strips gefahren bin, wo ein recht bekanntes Strassenschild steht.

Danach ging es zum Mandalay Bay. Das Hotel selbst hatte ich mir ja schon angesehen, aber innendrin gibt es noch eine Art Aquarium, in dem es auch Haie gibt.

Die 16 USD Eintritt finde ich im Nachhinein betrachtet für das Gebotene doch etwas zu viel. Aber gut, ist gesehen und abgehakt und war eine kleine Abwechslung gewesen.
Danach ging es dann vorbei am Luxur, Excalibur und New York zum MGM Grand.

Im MGM habe ich mir dann erstmal noch ein Programmheft für die gestrige Show gekauft, quasi als Erinnerung, denn Fotos hatte ich von dem Spektakel ja verständlicherweise nicht.

Danach ging es weiter zum Bellagio, wo wir festgestellt haben, dass die Wasserspiele auch am Tag stattfinden. Insofern haben wir mal bis zur nächsten Show gewartet.

Die Show war dann zur Musik von „All that Jazz“ aus dem Musical „Chicago“ und es war echt toll. Irgendwie hatten es uns diese Wasserspiele angetan und es war jedesmal aufs Neue faszinierend, dem Tanz der Fontänen zuzuschauen.

Nach den Shows ging es nochmal zum Elton John Shop im Caesars, wo wir vor 2 Tagen schonmal waren und ich konnte nicht widerstehen, mir ein Souvenir mitzunehmen. So kam ich zur „To be continued..“-Box, die in Deutschland so nicht erhältlich und eine gute Ergänzung zu meiner CD-Sammlung ist. Nebenbei konnte ich dann auch noch etwas Klavierspielen. Sing me the song you’re the Piano Man….

Danach ging es weiter zum Mirage, wo noch die Secret Gardens auf dem Plan standen. Für 15 USD kommt man hier zu Delphinen und – viel wichtiger – zu den weißen Tigern von Siegried und Roy. Diese Wildkatzen sind einfach einmalig und es war schade, sie nicht mehr in der Show zu sehen, sondern nur in den recht kleinen Gehegen hier. Aber diese Tiere ziehen mich immer wieder magisch an.

Danach hatten wir ordentlich Hunger. Mein Reiseführer meinte, das Buffet im Mirage soll gut sein, also sind wir dorthin. Für knapp 25 USD pro Person war das Buffet wirklich klasse und auch die Getränke waren bereits inkludiert.
Danach wollte ich nochmal ins Venetian, da ich noch keine Fotos von Innen hatte. Das Hotel fand ich auch wirklich schön. Dadurch, dass das Hotel einen Himmel mit Wolken, Tag und Nacht simuliert, merkt man zeitweise garnicht, dass man in einem Gebäude und nicht draußen ist.
Nach diesem Besuch folgt nun meine Rangliste der Hotels am Strip:
- Caesars Palace
- Venetian
- Bellagio

Als wir dann dort rauskamen, war draußen gerade die Blaue Stunde, so dass ich auch dort noch zu ein paar schönen Fotos kam 😉

Die letzte Besichtigung am Strip war dann noch das Wynn (der mit 2,7 Mrd. USD teuerste Komplex), bevor es mit dem Bus nach Downtown Las Vegas ging, zur Fremont Street. Diese Straße war einst das Zentrum, bevor die großen Hotelpaläste am Strip entstanden. Heute ist die Gasse vor allem wegen ihrer Leuchtreklamen ein Publikumsmagnet.

Highlight der Fremont Street ist dabei eine Neon Show in der Decke, die jede Stunde (mit unterschiedlichen Motiven) stattfindet. Meine Energie war jedoch aufgrund der letzten Tage schon recht aufgebraucht, so dass ich nur eine Show gesehen habe.

Und damit gingen vier aufregende Tage in Las Vegas zu Ende. Es war absolut toll und es gibt sicher noch einiges zu entdecken hier. Auf der anderen Seite, waren die Tage hier auch recht anstrengend und so bin ich froh, dass es morgen erstmal weiter ins Tal des Todes, das Death Valley, geht.
Fazit:
- Ich muss irgendwann nochmal nach Vegas und das nicht aufgrund der Casino Spiele
- Das Stratosphere war für den Preis mehr als in Ordnung, nur der Service war eher miserabel
- Nach den ganzen Nationalparks war das jetzt genau das Richtige
